Morgon Coffee Roasters
Our first guesting roastery of the year is Morgon Coffee Roasters, Gothenburg
Morgon Coffee Roasters was founded by Markus Vestergaard and Gabriella Sand in Gothenburg, Sweden in the summer of 2018. Together they have over 25 years of experience working with coffee. After working as baristas, roasters, trainers, consultants as well as running coffee shops, helping start up roasteries and competing in coffee, they decided that it was finally time to create their own favourite roastery.
They focus on forming long-term relationships with producers, that way they can make sure to always purchase coffee that has the potential to become their new favourite cup of coffee. Their coffee is bright, seasonal and sustainably sourced and something they’d like to think is for everyone. In roasting they aim to bring out the unique flavours and to highlight the heritage of each coffee. In their packaging their coffee they create unique and colourful artwork for each coffee, inspired by postcards, the stories from producers and the coffees taste notes. And their square blue bags are inspired by the shipping containers found in the old shipyards surrounding their roastery.
ORIGIN AND FARM
The Montero's have been producing coffee for
three generations. Grandpa Eli was the first,
followed by his son Carlos and his grandson
Jacob.
In Tarrazu, Carlos and his family are all
about community. A lot of the neighbouring
producers see them as visionaries and leaders of
the Tarrazu specialty coffee movement and look
to them for inspiration and advice, which Carlos
is always happy to give.
